Botswana lifts social distancing rectrictions


Government on Wednesday announced the end of Three Phases of lockdown. A zoning strategy has been implemented to further help curb virus spread. The current case total is 29.

“A part of the containment strategy, the country has been divided into Zones to restrict movement of people; allow swift responses in the event of an aggressive outbreak,” a social media statement stated.

There are 9 COVID-19 zones: Boteti, Chobe, Ghanzi, Greater Francistown, Greater Gaborone, Greater Palapye, Greater Phikwe, Maun and Kgalagadi. 13 check points have also been established across the country.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry issued a statement that said alcohol remained banned till further notice.
