Former Credit Suisse boss with special mission to help the continent during pandemic situation

Former Credit Suisse Chief Tidjane Thiam and others dignitaries were appointed by the African Union as specials agents for giving a helping hand to the African continent in the process of dealing with the economic impact of the coronavirus.

Former Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former South African Finance Minister Trevor Manuel, and Donald Kaberuka, former president and chairman of the African Development Bank entered this envoy team. The main goal of dignitaries will be to solicit rapid and concrete support promised by the G20, the European Union and others.

“These institutions need to support African economies that are facing serious economic challenges with a comprehensive stimulus package for Africa, including deferred debt and interest payments,” said the AU chairman, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
