Severe weather and torrential rain warning released by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) for eastern parts of South Africa on Tuesday.
A heavy downpour is expected to hit the eastern part of the Eastern Cape and the south of KwaZulu-Natal province, there is also warning of localised flooding released, SAWS stated.
Port St Johns has already been doused with a significant rain which has seen 14mm so far.
“At the moment there is a subsurface high-pressure system that is just south of the country. It’s pushing low level moisture into the southern parts,” SAWS forecaster Bransby Bulo reported.
The weather agency predicted thundershowers for the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and widespread showers over the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
