Mozambique: 4.4 tremor hits Zambezia province


An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale has shaken Mozambique’s central province of Zambezia.

The region which is currently battling floods and other disasters was hit by the tremor at around 3:45am on Monday with an epicentre near Morrumbala village.

The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) is expected to release a statement on the matter in the next hours, shedding light on the damage dealt by the quake and possible casualties.

However, due to the relatively small magnitude, the material damage is believed to be minor.
