Tom Thabane has announced his intention to step down as Lesotho’s Prime Minister, several media stated on Thursday.
According to the reports, Thabane has already informed the king and the government about his decision; however, the resign date is yet to be announced.
While the reasons remain uncertain, the move can be linked to the investigation of Thabane’s previous wife’s murder.
Lipolelo Thabane had been killed in 2017, just two days before her husband was sworn in as leader of the mountain kingdom.
On Wednesday, the national police received an arrest warrant for Maesaiah Thabane, the PM’s new spouse, however, the law-enforcers are still unable to find her almost a week after the search started.
