There were no casualties reported after a SA Air Force transport aircraft had a hard landing at Goma airport in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the reports, the C-130BZ that was caring cargo from Beni caught fire just seconds after the crash but 67 people on board managed to safely escape the scene.
“67 people were rescued including eight crew members and 59 passengers. All passengers are safe and sound,” the Reuters journalist Fiston Mahamba said in his Twitter.
Photos and videos from the local eyewitnesses showed clouds of smoke allegedly coming from the plane’s engine.
The investigation board is currently determining the details.
