Michael Bloomberg donates US$150k to Harare to combat shortage of medicines

Renown American politician, billionaire and 2020 presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg has donated US$150, 000 to Harare City Council in order to help the Zimbabweans with essential drugs.

The matter was confirmed by Mayor Herbert Gomba, who also thanked Bloomberg for the generous funding. The money was reportedly transferred through his Bloomberg Philanthropies, the businessman’s charity foundation.

“As council, we will do a research on noncommunicable diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes as well as cancer and others to acquire medicals for these diseases,” Gomba told the media.

In November, 77-year-old Bloomberg who served as the mayor of New York City from 2002 to 2013 expressed his interest to be a Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2020 US presidential election.
