Dan Kriek, the president of Agri SA, has decided to leave his post in the agricultural industry association.
The board reportedly received Kriek’s notice of resignation on Friday and has already expressed sadness over the matter.
“After long and thorough consideration, Kriek decided to step down from this position with effect from 31 December 2019, due to health and stress-related reasons. He will now focus on his business interests and farming enterprise,” Agri SA stated.
Kriek also noted that Agri SA would need strong leadership to maintain the current trustworthy status and address the difficult challenges it faced.
Until the 2020 congress meeting, deputy president Pierre Vercuil will take the lead of the organisation.
