Zimbabwe: Junior doctors to leave ZHDA, say the association plays political games

A group of junior health workers is going to leave the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA), the local media stated on Thursday.

The doctors have been planning such a move due to the organisation’s shifting priorities as it, they say, no longer aims to negotiate with the government and just play political games.

The last straw was the ZHDA’s decision to decline scholarship offer from the government, which promised a monthly allowance of $5, 000 as well as several additional benefits.

“Most doctors behind the scenes are getting frustrated by the way things keep unfolding, so there is a group that has decided to lead like minds into meaningful negotiations with the employer,” the journalists quoted one doctor from the splinter group.
