Caring for the safety of the citizens, the City Council of Nampula started to remove the informal vendors from the streets and roadsides.
The operation which started last week is also aimed at creating a new more positive image for the city. The kiosks and tents set in such protection zones as in the vicinity of the railroads and highways are destroyed. The tobacconists located on the central promenade of the three main avenues of the city center will also be affected.
The authorities urged the vendors once again to transfer their commercial activities to properly identified municipal markets.
