The law-enforcement services in Harare have arrested eight citizens believed to be involved in illegal land sales across Zimbabwe capital.
Four perpetrators who claimed they were employed by a local housing cooperative were alleged to sell the unowned land plots in the Nyatsime area siphoning more than
US$20, 000 from the clients. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspects were aged between 46 and 54.
The other four were nabbed for illegal deals in Waterfalls.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police assures members of the public that the law will certainly take its course on anyone who is involved in criminal acts of pegging, parceling out land and offering it to people fraudulently,” Nyathi said in a statement.
The police are expected to conduct more similar operations in the upcoming weeks.
