According to the government of Djibouti and the United Nations, the country experienced the equivalent of two years of rainfall in one day.

As a result of the disaster, the population of several countries in East Africa, including Kenya, is forced to move to safer regions. Thus, on the shores of the Red Sea, the number of the victims reached a quarter of a million people.

According to the latest data, the rainfall from October to mid-November was 300 percent above average in the greater Horn of Africa region.
