The monks from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Committee have sent another batch of high-quality rice to the Mozambicans who were affected by the severe cyclones Kenneth and Idai.
According to the reports, the organisation provided 100 tonnes of the grain in a bid to relieve the victims’ hardship.
All of the required shipping documents were handed to the national authorities during a special ceremony held this week, while the first bags of food are expected to be distributed in the upcoming month.
Le Huy Hoang, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, expresses hope that those locals who have been left with no property due to the disasters will soon recover and return to normal life.
It is the second delivery of much-needed food products delivered by the VBS since the start of the year.
The latest data shows that approximately 2 million people are still living in poverty since the cyclones made landfall.
