The search for Cozette Scheepers, 6, who had gone missing together with her mother and younger brother in Herolds Bay, was reportedly called off on Tuesday.

According to Capt Malcolm Pojie, the police and rescue teams have stopped operations as none of them showed any progress. The officers will continue to conduct sporadic vehicle patrols though.

Cozette, Heidi and Hugo disappeared last month when they were on their way home from the beach. The family’s VW Caravelle was later found in the water near Voëlklip which confirmed the suspicions that it had gone off the cliff.

The body of two-year-old Hugo had been recovered floating not far from the car while his mother’s remains were found in the ocean a few days later.
