Zambian President Edgar Lungu has sent a message to the entire Catholic Church, expressing his condolences in relation to the death of six choir members who were killed in a tragic road accident on Sunday.
According to the latest reports, a Rose Bus collided with a stationary truck on the Kitwe-Chingola road near Musenga area resulting in six deaths and multiple injuries caused to over 25 passengers.
In the message, the national leader described the crash as a disturbing accident and assured the public that the authorities would do everything possible to prevent such a tragedy in the future.
In accordance with this statement, the national leader urged the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), as well as the police, to constantly check the roads in the country and clear them from any broken vehicles which pose a threat to the regular motorist.
“It is sad that people perished because a truck was left on the road for a long time. RTSA and Police must develop a culture of clearing roads of vehicles that have broken down,” President Lungu declared adding the words of support towards the injured passengers.
