Polokwane City goalkeeper Cyril Chibwe has decided to switch the sides and joined the Zambian footballers.
The news over the player’s snub was initially confirmed by Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki, who also stated that the vacated spot would be given to Bidvest Wits reserve goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
“Zambia called me and then we took a decision from there, but way back it was whoever comes first. If Bafana comes first I will choose them because Zambia wouldn’t have recognised me by then. So now Zambia spoke to me first before Bafana,” Chibwe explained the matter to the media.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper will now represent the Zambian colours, the country in which his father was born.
He significantly enhanced his reputation with a man-of-the-match performance for Rise and Shine helping his team secure a 1-0 win against Absa Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
