A shootout between the Mozambican Defence and Security Forces and the insurgents in the area of Limala-Mbau, Cabo Delgado, have resulted in nine deaths.
According to the reports, the military squads fought combat against the criminals on Saturday and managed to gun down nine of them.
“The operations are continuing and the defence and security forces remain in combat readiness,” the Defence Ministry statement read.
The government representatives did not reveal any additional details.
The attacks in the northern province of Cabo Delgado are believed to have claimed the lives of about 300 people.
