Stampede breaks out and some injured at the viewing of Mugabe’s body

A number of people were injured as crowds gathered to see the body of late former president Robert Mugabe. Mugabe’s body was taken to Rufaro Stadium today to offer Zimbabweans an opportunity to bid him farewell.

A stampede ensued as people lined up to view Mugabe’s body in a coffin which resulted in some people being injured where a medical team rushed to the scene to attend to those injured.

Riot police barricaded the scene and eventually, people continued to view the body with the aid of police and security officials.

It is reported that more than 10 000 people showed up to their respects to the late statesman.
