The National Democratic Congress has presented a new appeal over its deregistration to Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo.
While speaking to the press, NDC’s leader Chishimba Kambwili stated that such a measure would ensure the organisation worked legally as, in accordance with section 23 (1) of the Societies Act, the party could continue operating as long as the appeal remained pending.
The Democratic Congress is now aiming to hold an urgent meeting in order to address the issues within it. The gathering scheduled to September 11 will be attended by the party representatives from all over the country.
Kambwili also demanded the president of the Economics Association of Zambia Lubinda Haabazoka to resign as his position on hunger in Zambia did not represent the reality. The EAC chairperson had previously opposed the declaration of national emergency in relation to the matter and urged the government not to cap the mealie-meal prices as it could further stimulate the economy.
