Konkola Copper Mines and Moxico Resources, as well as two other companies, have entered a consent order granting Mimbula mine the permission to resume its operations.

The information was confirmed by Moxico Resources Chief Executive Officer Alan Davies who stated his organisation was relieved after the prolonged dispute between the parties had finally been settled.

The facility located near Chilonga city will now employ hundreds of Zambians from the local areas giving them jobs along with the money for their own subsistence and support. Moreover, Moxico will invest over $40 million to improve the shafts’ conditions and renew the digging equipment.

In the statement, Davies has thanked the government for its continuous support of the mining sector, stating that the favourable economic climate made the country one of the most appealing regions for investments.
