One of Zimbabwe’s former opposition party member Marvelous Khumalo has been arrested following a botched land deal.
The former Movement for Democratic Change legislature for St Mary’s constituency is believed to have conned a Chitungwiza man, Joseph Munyonho of at least USD7 500 for a residential stand he claimed was on sale.
Khumalo is alleged to have been selling residential stands to residents in Zimbabwe through his company Chitungwiza and Manyame Residents Association (CAMERA).
It is reported that Khumalo has been held at St Mary’s Police Station, he previously appeared in court for allegedly converting the Community Development Fund to personal use during his tenure as a legislator.
Munyonho says that he paid for the land in 2011 but was later told that the land had been allocated to another buyer.
