My honeymoon is short – Zambian Finance Minister Ng’andu

Finance Minister Dr Bwalya Ng’andu says his job honeymoon is short due to the terms of limited room for delay to stabilize and grow the economy according to the order by President Edgar Lungu.

“Hard work is beckoning, the need for action is immediate, my honeymoon is short and my Ministry will require your unfettered support to push policy implementation and get work done.”

This morning Dr Ng’andu took the opportunity to assure the Cooperating Partners Group (CPG) delegation that the Government appreciated the relationship.

“The Government is therefore keen to strengthen existing ties through various development platforms.”

The CPG in response restated their guarantee to support the implementation of the Seventh National Development Plan along with the support towards building a strong partnership with the Zambian Government.

The partners also ask the Minister to continue the country’s efforts towards the attainment of an IMF Supported Economic Programme in order to grow the financing options available to Zambia.

They also discussed debt management, value for money public investments, financial governance, private sector development, protection of social spending.
