Motorists could pay seven cents more for petrol in August, while diesel could decrease by 20 cents.
The Automobile Association (AA) revealed that there was volatility in the rand and the exchange rate over the past few weeks.
“The increase in the refined cost of fuel was high for petrol and diesel in the first couple of weeks of July,” said Layton Beard, from AA.
But Beard predicts that the figures might change in the next few weeks.
According to the AA, while the rand may have strengthened against the US dollar this month, the international oil prices increased and resulted in the rand’s incline.
