Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) lead legal counsel, Mordecai Msiska said they were going to inspect the country’s electoral staff bank accounts to track possible bribe.
This follows after opposition parties challenged the May 21 presidential election results that were won by President Peter Mutharika.
“As for the bank accounts, we need to know whether any MEC (Malawi Electoral Commission) staff had had transactions in their accounts that are unusual, that could not be explained in terms of inflows of funds”, said Msiska.
Currently, the Malawi opposition party is waiting for their case outcome regarding their challenge on the election results which they filed with the Constitutional Court on Wednesday.
Police were instructed to guard the headquarters of the court pending the case outcome.
