Three people were arrested and charged with murder after a man’s body was found dead under a bed in the informal settlement of Hopefield, north of Cape Town.
This happened yesterday after the police acted on a tip off that they received on Monday about an unlicensed firearm kept the in one of the residences and conducted a search.
Police spokesperson Colonel Andre said that while they were conducting the search on the premises a body of a 54-year-old man was found,
“The search was extended to an outside informal dwelling in the yard, where the members found a body of a 54-year-old man hidden under a bed,” said Traut.
The police spokesperson further revealed that three suspects living the residence aged 22, 28 and 30 have been arrested and charged with murder. They are expected to appear in court soon.
The cause of the man’s death has not yet been confirmed and the firearm is yet to be found but the investigations are continuing.
“It is suspected that he was killed a day before his body was discovered. The firearm that was sought is yet to be found,” added Traut.
