The Zambian politician and United Party for National Development (UPND) secretary General Steven Katuka has refuted allegations that he suspended party’s vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba for a three-month period.
The claims were based on what was believed to be an official letter which accused Mwamba of organising protests against Northern provincial chairperson Nathan Ilunga. The document widely circulating on the web was dated April 16, 2019, and had a Katuka’s signature on its page.
Speaking to a local mass media, Katuka explained that the letter was fake and had nothing to do with reality. According to him, it was forged by the party’s enemies in order to destabilize the situation within the UPND and tarnish Katuka’s relationship with Mwamba.
