The Zambian Government is always ready to hear criticism from residents across the country and will not stand against private non-governmental media as a tool for people to voice their issues, says Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Dora Siliya.
The official toured Diamond Television in Lusaka on Tuesday and answered some of the people’s questions during the event.
According to her, the private media resources are playing an important role in bridging the informational gap between authorities and residents. However, if they raise complains and support them with genuine facts, they are also asked to offer alternative solutions for the government to consider.
“We are not scared of being criticised. All we are asking is that when people criticise us, let them criticise us and offer alternative solutions and not insults,” Siliya said.
During the visit, she commended Diamond Television for taking a lead in promoting local content.
