The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation have traced the alleged Cape Town car-cloning syndicate’s kingpin. The man was arrested and remains in custody.
According to the Hawks statement, Arthur Qedinda Dube was refused bail after appearing in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The criminal was traced by the Hawks members in Johannesburg in March. During the investigation, the detectives have linked the suspect to several cases in Cape Town.
“Dube was on the run at the time of his arrest, he appeared at the Hillbrow court and the case was transferred to the Muizenberg court, culminating in his appearance yesterday where the Hawks successfully opposed his bail bid,” the Hawks statement said.
The suspect appeared in the court with his partners in crime.
All three of them will appear in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Bellville on April 26.
