Heavy rainfalls that have recently grappled Kitwe’s Buchi Township in Zambia, has put the area on the risk of a waterborne disease outbreak.
According to the reports, the territory appeared to be flooded after the storms with streets and houses full of rainwater mixed with wastewater from the sewerage.
Kitwe District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu has already made his appearance in the township in order to assess the scope of the problem and attempt to find the solution for it.
After seeing some women fetching the contaminated water, he was startled and urged to put as many efforts as needed to resolve the matter. Besides, Mpundu directed Nkana Water and Sewerage Company to work closely with the council and ensure all sewer leakages are fixed and territory is free from the flood consequences.
