Ahead of the elections, Cyril Ramaphosa visited the protest-hit township and promised to address their issues and make major upgrades.
The National African Congress president gave ministers a week to formulate a plan that will address the people’s grievances and report back to him.
Cyril was accompanied by ministers and members of the provincial leadership when he visited the township as part of his campaign trail.
He stated that the issues that were presented by the Alex Shutdown committee were pressing and needed to be addressed urgently by his ministers.
“Next week, I want them to give us a report, not fabricated reports. I want the real one,” he said.
“The provincial government must immediately meet with the mayor that they must address these issues.”
The president also reassured the displeased community that the Alexandra renewal project will continue rebuilding houses, clinics and other facilities.
