The possibility of load-shedding in South Africa is set to be high on Thursday evening as Eskom once again is battling a capacity shortage. Stage 1 power cuts can be implemented anytime between 17:00 and 22:00, as it has been announced by the utility via Twitter.

If the process starts, Eskom will need to shed 1,000MW in order to stabilise the work of the national grid, cover the shortage of generating powers and save the system from the total collapse.

At the same time, the organisation urges consumers to use electricity sparingly and turn off all non-essential devices.
