A man who was previously booked on sexual assault and rape has been arrested by Diepsloot police officers. The police believed that he was solely after churchgoers in Diepsloot.
The police managed to locate and to detain the offender on a tip from locals.
“They have linked him to at least 13 rape cases,” the police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said.
He added that the rapist was seized while attending a church and hunting for the next victim.
“There are some churches which are held in an open field and the police went there and arrested him. The suspect is linked to several rape cases in Diepsloot as well as the western area,” Lungelo Dlamini stated.
The man is awaiting trial for rape in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday.
