President Edgar Lungu stated that he is going to report the issue of congestion at the Kasumbalesa border post in Chililabombwe to SADC.
Mr. President says the Democratic Republic of Congo is supposed to open up their borders and clear trucks in large numbers.
Addressing hundreds of people in Chililabombwe at the Konkola Rugby Club yesterday, President Lungu said the congestion is caused by problems on the DRC side and not in Zambia.
He stated that he will notify SADC to make sure that DRC borders are opened to clear as many trucks as possible.
President Lungu also contacted Konkola Copper Mines to make sure it properly pays local contractors.
Previously, President Lungu commissioned a Priest’s house in Kamenza area of Chililabombwe at which he praised the partnership between the government and the church in providing infrastructure development to Zambian people in distant areas of the country.
