The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) confirmed that a technical glitch that prevented beneficiaries from accessing their grant payments has been successfully fixed.
The system fault was found on Monday after residents reported they were unable to withdraw cash from the Post Office and other payment channels. In order to recover from the incident, Sassa reversed the operation made yesterday, returning money back to beneficiaries’ accounts.
“It was a little slow to upload the information of beneficiaries. However, the IT system of both the SA Post Office, Sassa and all other relevant stakeholders came together and resolved the problem. Beneficiaries can now access their money,” spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi said.
