Seven people, including a 6-year-old girl, have become the incidental victims of shooting that took place in the City of Cape Town.
Police stated that the group of residents was standing in Beatrix Lane at about 10.50pm when several criminals sitting in a minivan nearby started shooting randomly.
“According to reports the 6-year-old girl was outside standing among the six other injured persons when a white Mercedes-Benz minivan drove down Thames Avenue, and as they went past Beatrix Lane, the occupants randomly fired several shots from the vehicle and immediately sped off,” Van Wyk said, adding that an attempted murder case was opened.
Apparently, all the injured were innocent, while the perpetrators were members of a local gang that decided to claim that area in Cape town. It was the second attack performed by the gang in the last two weeks.
“Innocent people are paying the price of gang activities that they don’t even know anything about or want to be associated with,” Manenberg Safety Forum spokesperson Roegshanda Pascoe said, urging law-enforcement units to make every effort needed to finalize the investigation.
