Energy Minister, Matthew Nkhuwa, has shared his satisfaction with the progress on the construction of the Kafue Gorge Lower hydro power plant.
He says construction which have now reached 60% completion has employed more than three thousand Zambians.
Mr. Nkhuwa added the project once finished will greatly increase power generation and make Zambia a net exporter of electricity.
He noted the government is looking forward to take advantage of Zambia’s central position and its large water resources to make the country one of the main exporters of energy to the sub-region and even beyond.
The Kafue Gorge Lower Hydro power plant is being built by Sino-Hydro Corporation, at a cost of over $2Billion and will generate 750 Megawatts.
