The mother of a Sans Souci Girls’ High pupil who was slapped by a teacher before the class full of learners has taken her child out of the educational institution. As it has been reported earlier, both 16-year-old girl and the teacher Clarisa Venter have been suspended after a viral video showing an altercation between the two.
As it follows from a statement, the child’s removal from the Sans Souci Girls’ High was “prompted by concerns for her wellbeing”. The specialists believe, the learner has been subjected to “unfair and unlawful treatment”.
“The learner’s lawyers have formally written to the school requesting her transfer letter. The school has provided the transfer letter and the report for 2018,” Western Cape Education Department Spokesperson Bronagh Hammond says.
