William Chandler who has been working in South African Airways (SAA) for 20 years was fired this month after the company discovered that he had forged his commercial pilot license.
The man served as the monitoring pilot (co-pilot) and, according to the reports, caused lots of troubles on the trips.
The last such incident occurred during the flight from the OR Tambo International Airport to Frankfurt, Germany, that was completed in November. When SAA was investigating the case, it found out the license was fake and asked Chandler to resign.
Moreover, the company is now aiming to return the money that the fraudster made during his work. The reports stated that it could result in a multimillion trial.
The investigation results also explained why Chandler opted not to be promoted to the rank of captain in 2005, as he would have had to submit his certification.
