On Wednesday, the teacher involved in a violent scandal with a Sans Souci Girls’ High’ pupil has faced a trial on assault charges. The proceeding has begun after the cruel hassle between the student and the teacher flared up during the school lesson with the class full of pupils. The girl pushed a desk towards Clarisa Venter, and the teacher slapped her.
The pedagogue gained pupils’ support and opened a case of assault against the grade nine learner. The pupil’s mother has also filed a lawsuit against the woman.
Clarisa Venter and the learner appeared in court on Wednesday. According to Venter’s lawyer William Booth, a hearing has been postponed to April:
“I have requested that it be made a final date for that purpose and I will also be requesting the evidence in the police docket, in order to establish exactly what the state of the case against my client.”
