The ANC’s national working committee (NWC) spokesperson, Pule Mabe, and acting spokesperson Zizi Kodwa was highly recommended to ‘step aside’ from their responsibilities as the organization has been disgruntled by the allegations of sexual violence the two officials faced.
Although both Kodwa and Mabe were not suspended formally, they should not provide any comments to the media on behalf of the NWC, the source related to the committee said. That decision was made during an internal sitting held on Monday.
Pule Mabe was accused by his former personal assistant Kgoerano Kekana who claimed the spokesperson harassed her sexually and even forced himself into her bed. Later, a grievance panel cleared Mabe and he resumed his work.
Zizi Kodwa has been involved in a rape scandal as the ANC received a letter from a local woman who claimed the official forced her to have sexual intercourse after several drinks. According to Kodwa, the text sent was a “dirty” move performed by his opponents. He also said he would be consulting with his lawyers on a way forward.
