Eskom board chairman Jabu Mabuza will continue his testimony speech in relation with the state capture inquiry. Today’s Zondo commission is scheduled for 9 am.
On Friday, Mabuza said that the spate-own power utility had millions in irregular expenditure as the new board collaborated with Gupta linked companies in early 2018.
According to Mabuza, now-former executives Matshela Koko and Susan Daniels shared confidential Eskom documents with an outside source through email. In particular, [email protected] was mentioned — the email portal belongs to Salim Essa, who has ties with Gupta owned Tegeta and Trillion Capital. The two were charged via disciplinary hearings thereafter.
In relation to load-shedding, Mabuza claimed that previously that issue was not a priority over other problems the company was struggling with. He said the board should have been able to foresee the disaster of unstable operational plants issues as such.
