Nike’s new empowering commercial that urges to deny all gender-based double standards and phrases features a list of female athletes, including South Africa’s Caster Semenya.
The minute-and-a-half video titled “Dream Crazier” demonstrates the moments of successes and failure on the female professional sports scene backed by Serena Williams’s voiceover.
“If we show emotion, we’re called dramatic. If we want to play against men, we’re nuts. And if we dream of equal opportunity, we’re delusional,” the voiceover said. “When we stand for something, we’re unhinged. When we’re too good, there’s something wrong with us. And if we get angry, we’re hysterical, irrational, or just being crazy.”
The ad itself was presented at the recent Oscars ceremony. The Semenya’s performance is there from the 27th second of the clip.
