A Cape Town teacher will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on assault charges after she slapped a female pupil at Sans Souci Girls High School in early February. The court appeal was made by two women — the learner’s mother as well as a 34-year-old resident.
According to the reports, the trial will be held on February 27. This is an addition to the teacher’s disciplinary hearing scheduled for next Wednesday (however, it is expected to be postponed).
The educator whose name has not been revealed to the public yet was caught on camera slapping the Grade 8 learner as the teenager brought a cellphone in class, violating the school’s code of conduct. The next day, both of them were suspended following the internal investigation.
