Transport union, the United National Transport Union (Untu), has expressed its discontent with an attack on a Metrorail admin official Vernon Brynard at Tygerberg station. As the Union said, the accident happened on Monday morning. A group of men attacked and robbed 56-year-old Vernon Brynard while he was waiting for a train.

Untu general secretary Steve Harris added that this is the third time that the man had been attacked and robbed on his way to work. He pointed out there was no security at the time when Vernon Brynard went to the station. He also said that the Untu has asked the government to ensure passengers’ safety:

“There was no security at the time when he went to the station. We’ve been appealing to the government to ensure that commuters and employees are kept safe at all times,” the general said.
