Faulty generators complicated the rescue and recovery operations at Gloria coal mine in Mpumalanga. Generators that supply power to ventilators underground went down.
As it has been reported earlier, more than 10 people died after a gas explosion at the abandoned mine shaft. The mine’s representative said that they were still searching for at least 15 people.
According to a mine spokesperson Mike Elliot, rescue and recovery operation will be continued when spare parts for the generator arrive.
A group of thieves tried to enter the shaft to steal cables earlier this month.
