A 39-year-old woman has accused her colleague, a senior Economic Freedom Fighters member, of a rape. The incident happened two years ago.
The case was reopened by the National Prosecuting Authority at the Lebowakgomo police station after the victim’s report to the local police department. The accused EFF member holds an influential position within the party’s Capricorn region in Limpopo.
As the police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said, the EFF official had allegedly bought alcohol drinks for himself and the victim in a bar and then raped the woman.
The case has been approved by the provincial EFF chairperson Jossie Buthane. However, he refrained from comments until the case would be completed.
The National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa is investigating the rape case now.
