On Monday, February 18, the details behind the planned restructuring of the South African state-owned airline (SAA) were revealed.
It was declared that the South African air carrier would be divided into three different business units. The company’s chief executive Vuyani Jarana announced the SAA’s restructuring plan on Monday.
The SAA is to be split into domestic, regional and international business units, and each will have its own leadership.
According to Jarana, the airline has not been profitable since 2011, and last year it received R5 billion of financial support.
