Workers from facilities management company African Global Operations (AGO, formerly known as Bosasa) have gathered to demand additional privileges from the organization.
The demonstration which took place near the AGO head office in Mogale started minutes after the company announced its voluntary liquidation. However, some among the protesters were unaware of the news that could lead to massive dismissals in the future.
“We are gathered here … to make several demands relating to medical aid, transport allowance and wages,” South African Private Security Workers Union (SAPSWU) representative Moses Sefala said.
According to the reports, the liquidation move was made after the negative impact by inquiry allegations. As the company did not suffer any financial problems and claims to be stable, AGO still has to go through the closure to operate as its bank accounts have been closed.
