President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed that a special cabinet task team established recently has been constantly providing the presidency with information updated daily over an Eskom situation. Moreover, it suggests the actions needed to be taken to ensure the energy supply.
The statement was made today as a response to the debate on the State of the Nation Address (SONA). According to it, the group consists of several officials from different ministries and is headed by deputy president David Mabuza.
During the debate itself, the opposition parties expressed dissatisfaction over the prolonged crisis within Eskom, but Ramaphosa said there is no such remedy that could cure the public facility in one time.
“For those who have doubted the extent of these challenges, this week’s load shedding has provided a hugely damaging reality check,” he added.
