Gauteng police officers have successfully caught three men who tried to kill an 18-year-old pupil at the Dowerglen High School.
On Wednesday morning, four criminals were seen at a telecommunication tower near the school. According to the reports, they were cable thieves and were allegedly performing a business burglary. During the incident one from the group entered school premises and shot the learner who was sitting in the classroom.
Two suspects managed to flee the scene on foot while school security was arresting two others.
“Police continued with the search for the remaining suspects and found one of them hiding in a nearby house and he was arrested. Police have seized an Isuzu bakkie believed to have been used by the suspects during the commission of the crime at the telecommunication company premises,” Provincial police spokesperson Capt. Mavela Masondo said.
The location of the fourth perpetrator remains unknown. An attempted murder case has been opened, SAPS investigates the matter.
